Hello, I'm Anne Castano, a ceramic artist based in Eastbourne, England. My love affair with clay began in childhood, and I still treasure my first pinch pot.
After studying Ceramic Design at Central St Martins, I honed my skills at Archway Ceramics in East London. Surrounded by talented ceramicists, I experimented with diverse techniques and forms.
For me, working with clay is a conversational process. I love watching a piece evolve, coaxing curves and textures into being. Each piece is unique, imbued with thoughts and emotions from the time it was created.
Inspiration strikes from the world around me – people, places, textures, and shapes. My creative process involves sketching, testing, and refining, with each piece undergoing multiple firings to achieve perfection.
When I'm not creating, I feel a part of me is missing. My passion for clay remains unwavering, and I'm continually amazed by the ability to bring ideas to life.
